Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive Information

What is the WEEE Directive?

It is a new legislation that applies to all Electronic and Electrical Equipment (EEE) placed onto the market from January 2, 2007. It has been brought into affect to ensure that end-of-life electrical equipment is recycled in the correct manner to address environmental issues.

What are HTFR's obligations to the WEEE?

With your help, we can ensure that all WEEE items disposed of by customers are dealt with in a way that conforms to European legislation. If the product you are purchasing is covered by the WEEE regulations, the symbol shown above will be shown on the packaging.

What do we have to do?

When you purchase, for example, a new Turntable from HTFR, and it is to replace an old Turntable which you have no further use for, you can return the waste electrical equipment to us at HTFR instead of putting it in the bin, as this will ensure that it will be dealt with in an environmentally responsible manner.

If the product you have purchased from HTFR makes use of portable batteries, please contact us to arrange the taking back of waste portable batteries.

If you purchase products from our Birmingham store, simply bring your WEEE like-for-like item along with you when purchasing your goods. If you purchase products online, contact us as to arrange a convenient time for collection of your WEEE , and it won't cost you anything.

Please note that we can only accept like for like items - ie a Turntable for a Turntable .
